Here at Pure Bliss, we’ve met our fair share of stressed-out brides-to-be and today, we’re tackling some of our best tips and tricks to keep stress at bay with our top self-care tips!

Taking care of yourself is vital not only to your physical health but your mental health as well. Planning a wedding is an emotionally straining experience at times and while you’ll always have a partner to lean on when times get a little hectic, it is important to make time for yourself while planning. Self-care does not need to take a ton of time or money either! It can be as simple as taking time to make yourself a cup of tea before sitting down and making the dreaded seating arrangement. Below, are our fave ways of kicking stress our the door.

  1. Take a cycle class – Not only do you get a great workout in a short amount of time, you can really forget about everything else going on outside the studio and just focus on getting those RPM’s up. What we love so much about cycle is it really is for everyone’s skill level. You can make it as hard or as easy as you want when you set your own pace.
  2. Fill your home with essential oils – Scents have a powerful way of guiding our emotions. Fill your home with calming scents like lavender and ylang-ylang to promote well being 24/7.
  3. Buy sheet masks in bulk – Places like Target and Sephora always have budget-friendly face masks in the check-out aisle and you def need to take advantage of it! Go ahead and give yourself permission to buy one face mask per week when you do your grocery shopping and let the stress melt away.
  4. Indulge in some nice skincare products – There’s nothing like slathering on a new moisturizer or face balm that makes you feel truly luxurious, right?! Well, what better excuse than your wedding to splurge a little bit on some expensive skincare. Taking 5 minutes a day to massage your products into your skin will not only make them work better but will alleviate some of that stress you’ve been holding in your jaw and neck.
  5. Take a walk – Exercise really is one of the easiest ways to rid yourself of stress. Taking a nightly or morning walk every day will allow you to not only get some fresh air and vitamin D, but you can let your mind ease and wander. Have a friend or your partner tag along for some company. Bonus point for trying some new hiking trails on the weekends!

Remember, the most important thing you can do is to take care of the body you have. Wedding planning does not negate that! Making sure you’re getting the exercise your body needs as well as the mental break your brain needs from wedding planning is uber important to maintaining healthy relationships. We challenge you to do one simple thing each day for yourself while you plan your big day!

Everything You Need to Know About Meghan Markle’s Wedding Dress

The big day is quickly approaching for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. And while the world waits, we’re speculating on what the bride-to-be’s wedding dress will look like! With so many details to iron out, and with the entire world watching, you can bet Ms. Markle’s dress will be absolute perfection. To help our readers out with all that goes into a royal wedding, we’ve put together a cheat sheet for everything you need to know about Meghan Markle’s wedding.

Who is Invited to the Royal Wedding?

Everyone from heads of state to pro athletes like Serena Williams to A-list celebrities like Victoria and David Beckham are expected to help the couple celebrate their nuptials. Meghan and Harry also invited around 1,200 commoners of outstanding achievement to the wedding. Of course, Harry’s older brother Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton, along with their now three children will be in attendance as well.

Will Meghan Markle Wear a Tiara?

Since the turn of the century, every royal bride has worn a tiara to her wedding. However, Meghan is neither royal by blood or British, so she may choose to forgo the tradition and instead take a more modern approach to her accessories.

What Silhouette will her Wedding Dress be?

The question to end all questions! If tradition has anything to do with it, the future Mrs. Prince Harry may wear a ballgown. But! Long sleeves are totally still in the running. Whether the American bride goes with a fit-and-flare silhouette or something a little sexy like a sheath wedding dress, she will bring a style and attitude to the royal family we have not seen before.

Ask the Designer!

We asked Martine Harris, Chief Creative Officer for Essense of Australia, Martina Liana and Stella York what she thinks Ms. Markle might wear. You can read her predictions here but according to Martine, a ballgown with few embellishments may be the best bet. And we have to agree!

What tiara will Meghan wear?

Style is everything! For Meghan Markle’s May 19th wedding to Prince Harry, style is probably one of the most important factors for the young couple. Whatever Meghan wears will live on for a long time in the fashion history books.

Whether Ms. Markle wears a long sleeve wedding dress or something decidedly more American, the question remains: will she wear a tiara? The answer is a little more complicated than you might think. Every bride at a major royal wedding since the Queen Mother has worn some sort of tiara. However, Meghan, who is not British or royal by blood, may choose a different route. Because we’re completely obsessed with everything royal wedding, we certainly hope she stays with tradition!

Here are our top crown jewels we think Meghan Markle may wear:

The Strathmore Rose Tiara

This crown might be perfect for the American bride. The crown, which features rose-cut diamonds, was originally presented to the Queen Mother, then the Duchess of York on her wedding day by her father. It has not been worn by any other royal since.

The Spencer Tiara

Although not technically in the royal collection, Diana wore her family’s heirloom to her wedding to Prince Charles.

The Cartier Bandeau

The Queen Mother’s Cartier Bandeau, which is made of three gem-set bracelets on a bandeau frame would be the perfect diadem for Ms. Markle. Sleek and decidedly modern, this royal heirloom would be the sparkliest of all pieces.

However, there is a possibility that a new tiara could be commissioned for Meghan Markle’s wedding day. The piece could be completely new – signifying a fresh change within the monarchy for the modern era – or it could be a refashioning of an older piece of jewelry from the royal collection. Either way, we can’t wait to see what glittering jewel Meghan Markle will wear on her big day.

How to Know You've Found "The One"

You finally found “the one” you’re going to spend the rest of your life with, and just when you thought the search was over, you realize another hunt is just beginning – finding the other “the one”. That perfect dress you will walk down the aisle in before saying those two magical words you’ve been dreaming of saying your whole life. While the thought of finding “the one” can seem overwhelming, fear not because we have some excellent advice for you!

Tip #1: The most important thing to remember when you start your wedding journey is that everyone’s path is different. The feeling that you get when you find “the one” will vary for each individual bride. So don’t listen to your sister who knew the moment she saw her wedding dress that it was “the one”, or your eccentric Aunt Elizabeth who knew her dress was “the one” when she felt a shiver up and down her spine after merely touching her wedding dress.

Tip #2: When you start the hunt for your wedding dress, shop in a way you are comfortable with. Each bride-to-be has a different process, some will know exactly the gown that want, some will need to try a variety of shapes and styles. Our bridal consultants are there to help you in any way they can; so use their knowledge and be open to trying on gowns they suggest – wedding dresses really do look very different once you put them on! Be honest about what you don’t like. The dresses don’t have feelings and won’t be hurt, and it will help us to find your dream dress.

Tip #3: Bring guests with you whose opinions you trust and who know your personality and style. Try not to get bogged down with an expectation of how you want your guests to react. Just like you, they will each have their own way of showing you which their favourite is.

So how do you know it’s the one? Well, we could tell you that you should cry and jump around five times with joy, but that is unrealistic. The most important thing is that we get it right. You may need to visit us a couple of times or it may be the first dress you try on. You might uncontrollably cry, you might beam from ear to ear. You might feel totally comfortable about your body and how the dress accentuates the bits you love and hides the bits you don’t. You might know how much your partner will love the style on you. You might dream about it for a week. You might just know!

“The one” might not be the one you came in for, but it will be the one you feel most amazing in on your special day.

Tips for Wedding Dress Shopping

You said “Yes” to your sweetheart, and now it’s time for the wedding planning fun to begin! What better way to start than by wedding dress shopping? Maybe we’re biased. Before you hit the stores, keep these tips in mind to help you find your dream wedding dress…

1. The Proper Undergarments: Aside from construction, the secret to a perfect fitting wedding dress is proper fitting undergarments. To experience the best fit possible, proper fitting undergarments are absolutely key. When shopping for your wedding dress, make sure to bring a strapless bra, and any shape wear you may wear on your wedding day. Regardless of shape or size, shape wear will support, smooth, and keep everything in the right place!

2. A Great Pair of Shoes: When trying on wedding dresses, don’t forget about the shoes! Whether you are planning on wearing heels or flats, make sure you take shoes similar in height to your wedding day shoes. Doing so will help you determine what length  you need to order, but also, they will help you envision your overall wedding day look!

3. A Small Group: Too often, brides think an entire entourage to try on wedding dresses. In reality, while 10 of your closest bridesmaids, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, mother of the bride may offer lots of love and support, they will also offer just as many opinions. We recommend a smaller group of close friends and family… You’ll feel less pressure to please everyone and choose the gown that speaks to you!

4. An Open Mind: You may be set on a romantic ballgown, until you try on that fabulous form-fitting mermaid gown that highlights you curves. Don’t be afraid to try styles that seem out of your comfort zone… You may fall completely in love, or you may be reassured that your initial mindset was the right one for you.
